GIS Basics in QGIS Software - 2026

🌍🗺️ We are delighted to announce the successful commencement of our second batch of online training programme, “GIS Basics in QGIS Software”, organized by the Centre for e-Learning (CeL), Kerala Agricultural University! 🏡💻

The training programme commenced on 13th July 2026, bringing together students, faculty members, researchers, professionals, and GIS enthusiasts to explore the fundamentals of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) using the open-source QGIS platform. 🌱📍

Designed to provide participants with practical knowledge and hands-on experience in spatial data analysis, mapping, and geospatial technologies, the programme aims to empower learners with essential GIS skills for research, agriculture, natural resource management, and data-driven decision-making. 🌏📊

Dr. B. Ajithkumar, Director of Students' Welfare, Kerala Agricultural University, presided over the inaugural function.

Dr. Abdul Hakim V. M., Director of Education, Kerala Agricultural University, formally inaugurated the training programme and highlighted the growing importance of geospatial technologies in agriculture, environmental management, and scientific research, encouraging participants to leverage GIS tools for innovative solutions.

Dr. K. Surendra Gopal, Dean, College of Agriculture, Vellanikkara, Kerala Agricultural University, extended his felicitations and appreciated the initiative taken by the Centre for e-Learning in promoting digital capacity building.

Dr. Berin Pathrose, Director, Centre for e-Learning, Kerala Agricultural University, warmly welcomed the dignitaries and participants.

Dr. P. Radhakrishnan, Geospatial Analyst and the resource person of the training presented an overview of the training programme, outlining the course objectives and learning outcomes.
